Christchurch Quilters Private Workshop - "Introduction to Cartonnage - the French art of Box-making & Fabric Covered Boxes".

When? Saturday 15th March 2025 09.30 - 16.00

Where? Kaiapoi High School Cultural Centre

What's it all about? During this 1 day workshop you will construct and decorate a simple box with a hinged lid from a supplied laser-cut kit, which will take 4-5 hours to make.  Box measures approximately 12cm x 12cm x 6cm.

Course fee covers venue hire and everything needed to make this project (including the kit). All you need to bring is your fabric. See photos below. The fabric should be light weight cotton, preferably quilting weight, and of a reasonable quality that doesn’t fray easily. The prints should be small to medium. Upholstery or home decor fabric is just too heavy to get a good finish on your box. You will need 3 coordinating fat quarters. Further information will be emailed to you nearer the time. 

What experience do I need? If you're a beginner crafter or a junior crafter, then this 1 day course is just made for you!

Please note that your place is not confirmed until payment has been made in full at the time of booking. Bookings not paid for by the 15th February will be offered to other crafters.
